Desargues’s Shadow Theorem demonstrates in two-dimensions the beautiful spatial relationship between the corners and side-lengths of a geometric shape such as a triangle, with its shadow. Desargues’s theorem applies to any shape and shadow viewed from any perspective. The theorem tends to read like a riddle: The lines joining the three vertices of the original triangle and its shadow meet at a point, whilst the extensions of the three side-lengths of the triangle and its shadow will meet on a line. While this description applies to triangles, it has profound and poetic implications and can be used as a cosmic lens through which to observe the patterns of the world.
All the Projective Geometry Drawings for this calendar are variations on Desargues’s Shadow Theorem. The different manifestations are created from new relationships between the Sun, or Entry Point, and the Horizon Line, or Threshold. Humans and Animals have a divine bilateral symmetry across the spine, giving them freedom of movement and choice. Plants have a heaven-centred rotational symmetry allowing them to spiral upward. Crystals have a unique parallelism within their cosmic and threshold forces creating translational symmetry.
